During the period of the pandemic, with the lack of training and competing, but the continued aging of the Bear and Emma, Burton and Shellie had the feeling that the breeder of the Bear and Emma, might be reaching the end of her breeding program, so with only three male puppies to choose from in her last litter, Shellie got her first male dog.
Finding many puppies born and purchased during the time of the pandemic, and lots of trainers not returning after the pandemic, the competition to get into training classes has been difficult. And involvement in additional aspects of their volunteer activities, their training, competitions, meetings, outings, deployments, fill their time.
Burton and Tikva, and Shellie and Mica, became certified pet therapy teams on the puppies’ first birthday, and visit with National Capital Therapy Dogs, Inc. Soon after their second birthday, they became certified teams, deploying with HOPE Animal-Assisted Crisis Response.
I grew up with Sandy and Duke.
My first dog, a Shih Tzu, was Mica.
Next, M.G., Micah Goldstein, who was joined by Am/Can Ch. Marigold, Mary, whom we called Goldie.
Next, litter mates, the Bear and Emma. (Purple spots on the back of his tongue, like that of a bear.)
Now, litter brothers Ha'Tikvah (Tikva) and Micah (Mica).
Thank you: Lorraine DeSalvo, Bilor (M.G. and Goldie),
and Marg Brown, Shente.
